Weenis.

Haven't blogged in a week. Nothing crazy has happened.

Christmas was so great! After opening presents at home & eating muffins, we went to Utah to my sister & Daniel's house. We played uno attack (one of my presents) & I won 4 times in a row. Every game we played I won, even though my mom swears she won once even though no one remembers. [:

I'd say my best present from my parents was this purple dress. I almost bought it for homecoming in October.

My best from my nana was a freakin' nintendo ds! Yaa, it's awesome. & red! Like my ipod & phone.

Then my sister made me 3 necklaces. I already placed them with specific outfits that they go perfect with!

Daniel was jumping over their living room chair, clearing it every time. My mother & I were cracking up. Then he got in trouble. Heh heh. My dad tried jumping over it. Scary considering his reputation of clumsiness. It was all good, though.

& yes mom, nana, & Karissa.. weenis is the skin on your elbow!

In middle school, didn't you ever ask people where their weenis is & they got all embarassed to answer? Then it turns out it's just the skin on your elbow? Apparently my family had never heard of that before. I shocked them all when I said Karissa was touching my weenis. This cracked them all up for the longest time. Fun family gatherings!

A Snow Day in Las Vegas

There hasn't been a snow day in Las Vegas in 29 years. Thank goodness for this snow day because I didn't do my art project! Heh heh.

Here's what my house looks like.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Cool, isn't it?

Tomorrow Brooke, Aubrey, Amber, & I are going to the park. Sledding down the hill, snow ball fight, & definitely making a snow man!

I'm going to spend my night reading since there's no hurry to get to bed. YAY!!!

Big News!

David Archie's CD came out at 9:00 last night. It's pretty dang amazing. I don't like the bonus song, though. Disappointing.

There's a song called To Be With You. It's so pretty. He sings part of it with a girl. Her voice is amazing. They don't say who it is, though.

His voice is so captivating. I sat in my room for, like, an hour listening to the whole CD. The writers didn't really keep to David Archie's style of music but he can make anything sound amazing.

Most of the songs are love songs... okay, I take that back. All the songs are love songs. Kinda funny but hey, the boy's in love with me! [;

That's all I have to say. Just announcing the amazingness of David Archie. You should go listen!

The Life of an Almost Sixteen Year Old

I'll be 16 on Wednesday! That means I have to change the title of my blog. The Life of a Sixteen Year Old is sort of boring. I need some ideas for a new title. Help, help! SOS!

Sorry it took so long for these pictures and the stories. I owe you some stories.

That day I got ready. Had curlers in my hair for a few hours. I was really excited to get into my dress and get all dressed up. My friends got to my house around 4:00.

Joe showed up first. His parents were really nice. We took tons of pictures.. I felt like a movie star. "Dahling, dahling, no pictures, please!"

Maddie and Ally arrived after some chatting. They looked so pretty. Maddie's mother was funny. She loved my shoes so much she took a picture of them!

We ate at Buffalo Wild Wings. My friend Aubrey met us there. We played the trivia games while we ate. It was so much fun. We were all laughing so much. We left Buffalo at 6 to get to the dance. The school isn't too far from BWW.

Everyone loved my sisters comic book shoes. I had a teacher even compliment them! The dance was lots of fun. The same teacher who loved my shoes was next to us with a lot of other teachers dancing. The song Pop, Lock, & Drop It came on. She thought they were saying "hot monkey, monkey" so now everyone says that to her while walking by in the hall. Funny stuff. After that song, a song called Shake It came on. Not a provocitive song, I promise. The conversation between her and another teacher when the chorus of "shake, shake, shake, shake, shake, shake it" came on was, "What are we shaking?!" "I don't know! Just do what the kids do!" Then they would raise their hands up & wave them around.

They had professional photographers there. Maddie, Ally, Joe, & I did the group picture first. The male photographer was hilarious! He would show us girls how to pose. He told me "I wanna see a little bit of dress here," because I was standing behind Joe. Then he told all of us girls, "Gimme some hip! I wanna see some sass!" We were cracking up. He told Joe to sit "like you're the man!" I'm sure the pictures turned out great!

A surprising thing that happened.. the fire alarm went off. Maddie and Ally and I had our purses and shoes under the table. I yelled to them, "Our stuff!" So we bolted over to the table. I was like, "Those shoes aren't mine! I need to go get them!" Haha. We were only outside for a little. I don't even think the fire department came. It was a girl in the bathroom with hairspray. I would have been so embarrassed if that were me! But hey, who else can say the fire alarm went off at their homecoming? All the people driving by got to see our cute dresses, too!

Home from a fun night after a few more songs. We were all exhausted!
This night will be a hard one to beat.

Halloween Costume

Photobucket
Love the bow on this dress!

Photobucket
That's the unprepared for a picture, picture.

Photobucket
My feet are sort of funny looking in this one. I think I might have lost my ballance.

Photobucket
Another foot pop, yo!

So that's my Halloween costume. My grandmother made it. Adorable, right? I bought the pattern on rustyzipper. It's a for real 60's pattern. My mother did my hair. She did such a good job. It stayed in all night, too.

I'm glad for the carnival. It was sort of a test run on the hair & make up & costume, for actual Halloween. I'm way excited!

Oh yeah! The shoes. Crazy story here, for ya. I didn't have shoes to match. Payless is having this crazy sale like always. Mother and I run over there 2 or 3 hours prior to the carnival that night. We're looking, looking, looking... "Alyssa, these sort of look like the dress pattern." I was worried they would clash if they weren't dead on. We ended up getting them for $8.. should have been cheaper because they were scuffed up & obviously been worn before & a little stretched. Then we noticed they were regular $22. Heck! We'll take them!

So I get home and we hold the shoes up to the dress. PERFECT!! How the heck did we pull that off? It was seriously insane. Everyone thought I covered some shoes with the same material. That's how dead on they were. They're super comfy and a really cute style, too.

I'm going trick or treating this year. I always say I won't but end up going anyway. We hardly get any trick-or-treat-ers to pass out candy to. I want people to see this costume! My nana did such a good job on this one. I said it beat my pirate costume (all time favorite). I'd show a picture but somebody never took a picture that year. We're all very depressed.

I'll let you know how trick or treating goes.

Wow. I had trouble spelling "goes" just now. Weird.

HOMECOMING

This deserved to be capitalized. I am so incredibly excited for homecoming tonight! I have the cutest dress. I have my hair in curlers right now and I got my nails done today. They're soooo cute, too. [:

My friends Maddie and Alyson and Joe are coming over in 3 hours. What to do to kill time until then? Blog!

They'll be here around 4. We'll take pictures and then go to Buffalo Wild Wings. Then the dance. Then we're going to my house to watch The Grudge. I've seen the second one, but never the first.

Doesn't this all sound so exciting? I know!

I figured my hair shouln't take longer than a half hour to do; my make up the same. Then 10 minutes to get dressed and such.

I'm bringing my camera and will definitely take tons of pictures tonight!

Wow. I wonder how many exlamation marks I've used in this blog. What do you think!?!?!?!?!??!?! [;

Twilight

I forgot that I was going to post this.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I drew the cover of Twilight for an art assignment. I did it in pastels. It was pretty hard & I didn't totally love doing it. I could have done much better on it if I spent more time doing it. I got a good grade, though!

Not much else to say. I'll post the ballet slippers I drew later. I also drew a few other things. I'm making a color wheel. I drew a sunflower with lady bugs on it for that assignment.

Hey Look Out For That Moving Van!

I ordered the pattern for my much anticipated 1960's Hairspray dress for my Halloween costume. I had a lot of choices. It was so hard to choose what style. The one from New Girl in Town? The blue plaid one with a collar? There were so many cute ones! I finally decided on this one. Not one in the movie but it's definitely 60's.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I like the polka dot idea. I'm going to go shopping with my mother for material tomorrow or Tuesday. Any ideas on the material? Give me any ideas you have.

Just an update on my upcoming events: I haven't forgotten to blog about my homecoming experience so far. I'm going to wait until the 25th, when I have pictures and such of actual homecoming.

For my 60's costume I'm also needing ideas for the hair. I can't really do it like Amber's in the movie because my hair isn't that short. Help, help! Any ideas.. and pictures would be awesome.

"A black guy would be awesome. But there's only like 10 black guys in Utah."
Name that movie!

Please Don't Crush My Soy Nuts

I think Mandy Moore is underestimated for her acting skills. Comparing her in Princess Diaries to A Walk to Remember, shes a very good actress.

I've been pretty into celebrities lately.

Miley Cyrus closed down Disneyland for her 16th birthday even though she isn't 16 until November 23. I thought that was pretty stupid. She also got a puppy. And what's up with her dating a 19 year old or something? This girl is going to mess up her life if she's not careful. I find it sad but hilarious at the same time. How bad of me, is that? : p

There's a concert here in town in a few days. It's only $8. Too good to be true for Lifehouse, Puddle of Mudd, Metro Station, Secondhand Serenade, Justin Nozuka, & Lenka!! I absolutely am going and I am so incredibly excited!! Lifehouse is the best on earth. Puddle of Mudd has a few good songs. Metro Station, I love (Miley Cyrus' brother is in that band.) Secondhand Serenade is great. Justin Nozuka has a beautiful voice. Lenka I've only heard one song of hers but it's really good.

Sounds fun, no?

Hmm. Poor writing today. I might edit this later.. just ignore the spelling & grammar and what not.

I've got some updates on the almost 16 year old girl's life. Just have to load the pictures on the computer as soon as I figure out how. Oh, speaking of which, that reminds me I need to finish making my birthday list! I'll post it on here.. just for your looking pleasure.. not that you need to buy me any of it.. [;

This Is the Blog That Never Ends! Yes It Goes On & On My Friends...

So there's this trip to Paris with my school this summer. It's $2,000. I think it would be so fun to go! I would save money for that over a car any day. No possible way I could swing that kind of money though. Plus you have to tell the teacher if you're going or not by the end of October I think. I've always wanted to go to Paris.

A few more days until I'm 16! I'm so excited! I've had so many present ideas in my head. My mother suggested the idea to register for target since I find most things I want there. Sounds uber fun & a good idea [; heh heh

I noticed a cold coming on today. I woke up with a slightly sore throat & a little bit of a runny nose in 1st period. I came home early because my tummy was hurting. Then my mother noticed I had a slight fever. I keep telling my body not to get sick until at least Wednesday if it has to... or after 2nd period tomorrow. I have to present my lesson plan in Methods of Teaching.

My group & I wrote a skit for our lesson. Then I took it & filmed some friends doing it. It turned out really funny. They want me to post it on youtube. I so am!

My Child Development teacher wasn't at school again today. I hope she's O.K. She had spinal meningitis & was out for 4 weeks. She was actually supposed to be out 6 but came back early. She looked really sick when she came back, so maybe she over did it. I hope not. I also have a presentation in that class. On the same subject actually. Ownership. Don't ask.. I've had it on the brain for 2 weeks now & I am so ready for a break from it!

Oh goodness! Heroes is on tonight! That is my favorite show in the whole entire world. Do you have a show like that? I can't wait for it every week! Every Monday in seminary Alex & I always say, "Heroes tonight!" & then the other says, "I know! I can't wait!"

This blog has absolutely no subject or order or anything. I hope it's not too, too confusing.

I should probably go blow dry my hair now. Gotta look cute if the whole class is forced to stare at me for 30 minutes. I was actually thinking of wearing sweats tomorrow though cause I'm sick. Hmm. What to do? They say beauty is pain...

Title:

I didn't know what to title this one. I titled it, "title" as you can see. Huh.. ever say a word so many times that it starts to loose meaning? That just happened. Title, title, title title, title..

My second week of school was fabulous, thanks for asking. Child Development is my all time favorite class. It feels like a college class might. One day the air was off in the whole school! 97 degrees in all of my classes, 98 in others. In CD we sat on the floor in the huge empty space outside of the class room so it wouldn't feel so hot. That day my teacher taught us "This Is It" & how we need to make situations "it." She talked out a scenario about a person's life.

Remember when you were born? You said, "oh man, this is it!" Then you were sitting there one day & you thought about how if you wanted to go somewhere, someone would have to pick you up & take you there. So then you thought, "no way, this isn't it. I need to find out my own way to get around."

The scenario went on until we were 85 years old. It ended with us thinking retirement wasn't "it." What's after that? Nothing. You want to start over & make everything "it."

The point of this lesson was to learn that we need to make our life now, "it."

She did another example holding a homework pass. She said no strings attached, no catch, nothing. No one could believe it so we were all just sitting there. She kept asking us who wanted it. We would all raise our hands but no one ever got it. Finally one girl stood up & walked over to the teacher & took it out of her hands. The teacher explained how not everything we want will come to us & how we have to stand up & get it to make.. "it."

Kind of a corny lesson but it was really interesting & got me thinking.

Also, in this class, when we walk in the class room, upbeat music is playing loudly. We have to stand up & clap to the beat. Then when the teacher reaches the front of the class we start to clap faster. Then to close it we put one hand in the air & one hand behind us. We bring the two hands together & clap them while making a "oouuup" sort of noise. This causes a brain interuption to refocus our brains.

At the end of class the teacher sums up everything we learned in the class that day. Everytime she says something, we repeat it & acknowledge it with a "oouuup" clap again.

Pretty affective if you ask me, since I've remembered everything in this class so far!

How I Spent My Summer Vacation.. By Alyssa Sims

My first day of school was awesome! Ok, ok. I'll tell you about everything.

I got there & found my friend Michael. He showed me the ropes a little bit & helped me find where I could see where my homeroom was. I wasn't on the list. I was told to go to the registrar.. from there I was told to go to the banquet hall.. & from there I was told to go to the counselor's office. Back up a little bit. I had no idea where the banquet hall was! Everyone who tried to tell me was so confusing. "Make a right, then a left, then another left, then go all the way down & you'll see it." I had to ask 4 people before I actually got there. When I got there I was pleased to see about 30 other people had the same problem as I did. I also ran into one of my old friends, Maddie.

Like a heard of cows, everyone walked to the counselor's office. I ran into another old friend, Kiki & met a new girl.. I forgot her name.. she was very nice though. So luckily, there, I got my schedule! Maddie had also gotten her schedule unlike some of the unluckily fellow schedule-less sophomores. We compaired.. nothing together. Dang it. My only friend & we had nothing together!

So when I finally reached first period, I was greated by a friendly woman; my new Methods of Teaching teacher. After first period had come & gone I was off to second. My first class was in the 500's & from there I had to go upstairs to the 900's. Fortunately, I found it rather easy to say I had never been inside the school before. My English 2 Honors teacher was really nice. Just what I need, coming from.. well.. what I had before. She called everyone "child." I found that funny. She classified my partner & I the brainiacs of the class, too. We were the first ones done with a paper with 30 english-y questions on it. Go Alyssa!

Back to the 500's for my next class. Geometry with Mr. Jimenez. He's cool, swears though, & seems to talk about drugs alot. Not much else to say about that period.

After that rather interesting experience I was going to Child Development, my program class (also in the 500's). I was soo excited! THIS is what I had been waiting for. This class reached all of my hopes. The teacher is so nice & interesting to listen to. She previously taught at Stanford so she's obviously good. We have 2 "lab" rooms. One for toddlers who need to work on motor skills & the other for kindergarden aged. Both rooms have tiny desks & chairs for the kids. There are also observing windows. We make the lesson plans & the junior class test them out. We also get to plan the turtle habitat & the freshman make it. Oh, I forgot to tell you! Connected to the kindergarden aged room is a big sandbox area where we get to take care of turtles & teach the kids about them. How exciting is this class?!

So, from here I was lucky to have a friend to walk to PE with. (2 friends, actually. I had ran into my friend Kristin in my Child Devleopment class that I didn't even know went to this school.) PE was scarey. I didn't know anyone accept the girl whose name I forgot that I met in the counselor's office. It's a co-ed class so I have a male teacher. He kept asking, "Is that clear!?!" in his drill sargent-y voice. We felt obligated to say, "Yes, sir!" We have to walk 2 "hawk walks" every day which is 2 miles some girl told me. Then we go to weight lifting & then outside to play football or basketball. Not very fun, if you ask me.

4 more classes left. Next was my mentorship class. Everyone is required to take this. We just sit around & work in this class & the teacher is there to help us with school related issues. After that class I went to lunch. All sophomores! Finally I got to see my friend Andrew & we ate lunch together & he introduced me to some friends.

World History was interesting. I walked back to the 500's & claimed my seat next to this huge window. I love that seat, now! The interesting part about that class was the teacher. He seems really nice & funny. He was joking around when stamping our papers. But then somehow the whole class got on the subject of star wars.. so not my thing. So Kristin was across the room & we made faces at each other for the rest of the time.

Kristin & I walked to art together & wondering why we were in there because neither of us had signed up to take art. Turns out it's required? The teacher was soo full of herself! Talking about how great an artist she is & how we'll never even come close to her. That class seemed to take forever & it was only 30 minutes long! No idea how I'll make it through a regular 90 minute class period.

My last class was Chemestry in the 500's. Cool teacher but she said there will be tons of work. I also sat next to this kid named Chris. He looked at my necklace (with an owl on it) & told me, "I like your owl necklace." I told him thanks. He then said, "I like it alot!" So I again thanked him. He kept the conversation going & said, "Do you like owls?" I said, "Ya," he asked, "Do you love them?" I told him, "Not really. I just like this necklace." He told me, "That's cool." I wanted to be like, "You know it bro!" & say it like Amanda Bynes in She's the Man.

1:20 we got released. Usually I'll get out at 1:25. There's no bells at this school. A 5 minute warning bell at the end of every class & then 5 minutes later we're dismissed by someone over the intercom. I like this alot better.

So all in all I had a really fun time at school! This will be a good year.

Zebra!

I decided to make a makeup bag today for my backpack. I made one in 9th grade fashion class but it turned out terrible & way bigger than the teacher promised. I definitely love this one! The only thing I wish I would have done different was make the zipper purple. But hey! This hot pink one is sooo cute!

Lately I've been OBSESSED with zebra print. What teen isn't right now, though? Funny how trends work.. you either love them, or totally hate them.

Here it is.

Photobucket

Photobucket

The stiches aren't great but my mother & I had some trouble figuring out how to sew it. My nana was on the phone talking us through each step but there's only so much description & visualization that can go through a phone. Haha.

I absolutely love this. I'm excited to show everyone. Maybe I can find a fast way to do these & sell them to make some extra cash-a-rooney! Mwahahahaha!!

3 More Days

I woke up this morning at 5 AM. I didn't fall asleep all that early. I guess my body is telling me it's time for seminary & school.

Monday is the start of school. I start dreading this day on the last day of school every year, yet when it comes around I am so ready for it! Getting up at 5 o'clock in the morning isn't bad at all.. but then again, I am a morning person.

I got my school clothes last week and this past week I got my backpack & binders.

Photobucket

My pink & blue striped & purple & green striped binders are covered in ductape. Inside each binder is a different folder with Lightning McQueen from Cars on it. Then I have a Dark Knight notebook.. anyone who knows me knows I have a strange love for Batman. I don't actually take the composition books to school (or use them for school) but they matched my backpack so perfectly, not even planned! On top of the Dark Knight notebook is a planner. Too cute, at Wal*Mart, to pass up. I always buy the ugly school planners & never end up using it. This is too cute not to use, in my opinion. I also had to vow to my mother that I would actually use this one. She talks like I'm not organized or something... :p

This next "section" shal we call it, is my favorite. I love pens & pencils. I got the cutest black & white ones (which match the composition books & backpack.) Then I'm also packing a mini sharpie, 2 mechanical pencils, a pink highlighter, a red pen, a blue pen, & 4 of my favorite pencils. They're mini mechanical pencils.. how cool is that?! Of course I pack my tide-to-go stick. Then there's my brand new markers, purple stapler, white out tape, glue stick, & mini tape. I don't like using the schools supplies.. germs.

Also packed but not pictured: hand sanitizer, makeup, school map, money

I have a list of possible outfit choices for the first day of school. It might be easier to show you rather than tell you.

Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket

I'm not actually considering the robot shirt for the first day, but sometime in the first week. Then I have this black Volcom shirt I am considering for the first day, but my messy room must have eatten it so I'm getting a new one today.

Guess what, guess what?! I found it! It was in the backseat of the car after I've looked in there about a million and one times.

So I was already on my way to the mall when I found it so I went and got some different shirts. All of which are now in the running for "first day outfit." Here they are.

Shriveled Up Cherrios and Bobby Pins

My room never seems to stay clean for more than a day. I'm embarassed to say that my mom has to make me actually clean it. The day I got home from girls camp, I walked into a clean & sparkily room. A few days later it was a mess. Clothes all over the floor, books on the floor, etc. Everything that belonged on a shelf or in the closet was now on the floor. I don't know why but I can't ever seem to put things back. Even my bathroom has cotton balls & band-aid wrappers everywhere.

So this past week, my mom & I have been cleaning my room. It's still in the process right now (takes a few days.) My alcove is still a huge mess. When I move my mouse around on the computer I always knock something over.

Currently on this desk where my computer is, contains: a cerial bowl of shriveled up Cherrios with a spoon stuck to the bowl, a mirror, 18 bobby pins, a flower, a Mary-Kate Olsen barbie doll head, ipod head phones, around 40 pens & pencils, 4 necklaces, a poptart, an old Slurpee, an empty milk carton, 3 of my 20 questions game balls, some tags/wrappers/water bottle caps/old make up sponge, some paper/stickey notes, tweezers, eye shadow, personal progress journal, a folder for church, McDonalds toys, a whistle, & a few other stray things.

None of which actually belong on the desk. Looking at all this stuff now I think, "Why couldn't I have just walked 2 feet to put it away?"

I wonder if I'll ever be able to get rid of my habbit to make a mess. Hah..
